For my birthday, I wanted to share this fun, girly dress that I actually wore last year on my birthday. I absolutely loved the fun shape, unexpected keyhole and cotton candy-meets-neon-pink color. I found it at Zara (similar here), but you can see more similar styles below. This Kate Spade umbrella is as feminine as it gets and has definitely come in handy this rainy spring and summer. While my style is always somewhat girly, it’s fun to sometimes take that full force, and I feel like this look does just that.
Who doesn’t love a good sale?! Especially at an online store like ASOS, where everything is already so affordable! When I began working full-time and weekend trips to the mall no longer seemed appealing, ASOS was one of the first online retailers I began shopping at. I felt more at ease buying because of their free return policy, but was surprised to find that I kept everything I purchased from there. ASOS has become my go-to when I need a last minute dress for a wedding or a new swim suit, and great news! – both their dresses and swim suits are in the fabulous sale, up to 50% off . I know navigating a giant sale like this one can be daunting, so to help get you started, I picked out a few fun summer pieces that caught my eye. Simply click on the images above to find them in the sale and see below for even more summer sales from some of my favorite stores. Happy shopping!
This was a look I wore last weekend in Brownwood after my parent’s vow renewals. The camouflage button up was actually spotted by my boyfriend on a shopping trip I dragged him along to. I tried it on and while I probably won’t be wearing it on a hunting excursion (as he’d hoped) I actually have gotten a lot of use out of it so far. I love mixing patterns, but it’s hard to find separate patterns that don’t clash or look too busy. Camouflage and stripes are complimentary (just ask the Army), and I love the prepster-meets-rebel look it creates. I found these high-waisted, acid wash shorts at Zara last summer (similar ASOS) and I have worn the heck out of them. They are so comfy and have a vintage look to them.
I love a bright top with a fun pattern or shape, so you can imagine my excitement when I found this poppy red Kensie top at Dillards that offered it all (but sad that it’s no longer available online – see similar tops below). Peplums have been trending for a few years now, but I especially love a peplum paired with a ruffled skirt because the shapes pair so seamlessly together, feeling almost like a dress. The top and skirt coordinates paired with these fun black and gold heels I found at Forever 21 made for a girly chic look that called for my go-to sock bun and Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Vivid Red. I love layering tiny pendant necklaces for a unique look. This pendant necklace from Kendra Scott is one of my favorites and it lays perfectly on top of my monogram necklace.
For my sock bun, I use one of my boyfriend’s thick Ralph Lauren socks, but if no amount of sock washing would make that an option for you, you can also buy a “sock bun” like this one that will give your bun a similar look. If you re brave enough to give an old sock some love, converting it to a sock bun is super easy! You simply cut off the toe of the sock, and roll it up. To get the sock bun looking fabulous in your hair, simply put it in a high ponytail, hold the sock bun at the tip of your ends, and roll it up! I’ll post a more detailed tutorial with photos included soon. 🙂
If you read my Matchy Matchy post, you’ll know that one of my fave trends for summer is the playsuit trend. From flirty and feminine sets like this white eyelet set from Pixie Market to festival-cool sets like this colorful one from Revolve Clothing, you can wear this trend no matter your style. I wanted to showcase a few matching separates (and super affordable!) that I’ve had my eye on or that are already in my closet (like the crop top and shorts set from Asos previously posted). What’s even better about this trend is that while wearing matching separates together is super chic, you can also pair the separates with other items you own for several outfit possibilities. Pixie Market has become my latest online shopping obsession and they have several matching separates that you can purchase together (but buy fast, these two-in-one deals sell out quickly!)
