TRIANGL SWIMWEAR

To celebrate the last day of the hottest month of the year, I wanted to share this bikini by Triangl Swimwear, which has quickly become my new favorite.  Not only does the vibrant turquoise color look fabulous on any skin tone (mine hasn’t seen much of the sun this summer), but it’s also made of a super durable, comfortable fabric commonly used in wetsuits called neoprene.  I especially love the silhouette of the top with the contrasting black lining.  If turquoise isn’t your go-to hue, Triangl has this style and more in a myriad of gorgeous colors!

Although I did this shoot at my parent’s pool, I styled it with items I would wear to a beach or lake.  I love the idea of using everyday clothing items as swim coverups, and kimonos happen to double perfectly as just that.  This black lace one with fringe went perfectly with my new black lined Triangl bikini.  Since I haven’t spent much time sun bathing this summer, I paired both sunglasses and a large floppy hat for extra protection.  Accessorizing with jewelry is always a challenge with swimwear, but I simply couldn’t go without it.  This tiny necklace and ring by Kendra Scott would have to come off before a dip in the water, but they were the perfect dash of sparkle for this look.

To get my beach waves, I let my hair air-dry (which gives it a bit of a natural frizz), then divided my hair up into about 5 sections and used the barrel of a medium size curling iron to wrap the large chunks around. For my fine hair, the process took no more than 10 minutes.  Braids are the perfect way to keep your hair of of your face when you’re in the sun, so  I french braided a tiny part of the front of my hair to tame a bit of it.

Side note – how adorable is this giant sea turtle floatie?!  And bonus – it’s the perfect size for laying out!

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of working with Austin apparel label Rare Trends to put together a few fabulous looks.  I was so obsessed with this colorful palm print dress that I couldn’t wait another day to share it!

My gal pal and fellow blogger Olivia of Livvyland (letting you in on a little secret – she doubles as my photographer and I as hers) met at their adorable showroom on the East Side to play dress up in their gorgeous array of unique clothing.  After choosing what we wanted to style (a difficult task as they have so many amazing pieces), we set out around Austin to style and photograph our faves.

My eyes were immediately drawn to this fit and flare dress that screams summer fun (see more of my fave summer dresses below).  With an hourglass silhouette, pink trim and a criss-cross back, this dress is stunning from every angle, but my favorite part is the chromatic palm print.  Accessorizing was easy – I paired linear turquoise earrings with a pink hobo clutch and my go-to cap toe heels.  The tropical-themed wall outside the doors of delicious restaurant Shangri La on East 6th was the perfect backdrop for this colorful look, and these wayfarer sunnies by Toms helped to keep me cool (literally and figuratively).

Designed here in Austin by two sisters from Argentina, Rare Trends stands behind the motto,  “Women shouldn’t simply wear clothes. Women should wear art”.  I couldn’t agree more with this mantra, and they certainly provide beautiful clothing with artistic appeal.  Fashion designers in Austin are difficult to find, so if you’re an Austinite who loves to shop local (or if you simply love their clothes as I do), be sure to check out their online store or stop by their darling showroom located at 2211 E 12th Street, open Monday-Friday 10am-6pm.

Happy Monday!  If you’re suffering from the Monday blues, I wanted to share a look that’s sure to brighten up your day.  While it’s still blazing hot here in Texas, fall fashion is definitely on my mind and this is another perfect summer-to-fall transitional look.  I found this amazing pink floral kimono (similar & more styles below) complete with lace trim and couldn’t wait to style it!  Since the kimono already has so many vivid colors, I wanted to pair it with something simple like this breezy white tank.  I added my over-sized, acid washed denim shorts and fringe boots to add boho flair.

Since I kept the rest of my clothing neutral, I wanted to have fun with colorful accessories.  This gorgeous orange clutch and turquoise necklace brought out the fun hues in the kimono.  I connected two tiny braids for a half-up hair do. This fun, casual look is perfect for a music festival like the upcoming ACL festival here in Austin (probably sans-heeled boots) or a Saturday brunch with the girls.

WHITE OUT

I wore this look months ago to the Austin White Party.  While having a very strict color palette for an event provides very limited shopping options, this is a great look for any summer soiree (except a wedding, of course).  This was my third time attending Austin’s annual summer event benefitting LifeWorks, so I wanted to go with a dress that was less than typical. When I came across this white perforated faux leather dress, it was a must-have for the party.

While white is the dress code for the evening, I simply can’t put a look together without a little bit of color. This gorgeous, Moroccan-inspired necklace from Kendra Scott provided the perfect pop of teal while still incorporating white with opalite stones.  I couldn’t just stop of my necklace, though.  I added one more splash of color with this amazing neon orange nail polish by Orly. This gorgeous baguette ring by Kendra Scott and a small gold bangle provided a little more sparkle.  Loose curls, my go-to dressy clutch and strappy sandals finished the look off for a perfect night out in white.
