STRIPES ON STRIPES

If you’ve followed my blog since this summer, this crop top and full skirt may look familiar. I wore this striped top with a mini skirt here and this full skirt with a simple white tee here. One of the most fun things about fashion is finding new ways to wear things you currently have in your wardrobe, which is how I came up with this look. A top and skirt I wore in the spring/summer time becomes the perfect winter look when paired together. There’s something so interesting about mixing patterns. Although the bold, graphic colors of this top contrast greatly with the pastel hue of the skirt, the similar pattern of the stripes compliment each other in an unexpected way. I absolutely love this outfit for a New Years party look, especially one where a little more coverage than the tiny sequined dress or skirt is needed. These classic black pointed toe heels and vintage beaded purse are the perfect accessories to make this look feel even more feminine and timeless.

HOLIDAY KNITS

It’s hard to believe there’s only one sleep left until Santa comes! I’m so excited to spend the next couple of days celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior with my family. Days spent in making memories, indulging in delicious food and celebrating call for an outfit that’s cozy and festive, and this look delivers equally on both.

The knit turtleneck and oversized plaid scarf have been staples of the season, and there’s something about the two paired together that just epitomizes the warmth and comfort of the holidays. Since a turtleneck has your bundled-up-neck look covered, try wearing your scarf draped around your shoulders like a blanket (which may actually come in handy after your second serving of holiday turkey). I paired the cozy knits with my staple faux leather pants and these awesome red booties to tie in the festive color in the scarf (it also happens to match my red Starbucks cup perfectly).

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of holidays!

LITTLE RED DRESS

It’s hard to believe that Christmas Eve is officially a week away! I cannot wait for some much needed celebration, rest and relaxation with my family. This last week before Christmas calls for festive fashion, whether at work, for a dinner date or for a holiday party, which is why I’m sharing this fun, vintage-inspired look. I’ve worn red a lot lately, but there’s something about a red dress that just feels like the holidays. ASOS is my absolute go-to when it comes to dresses (they have over 11,000 options online!), and I found this long sleeve red number at the online store this summer, so I was so excited to take it out for this look. I’m usually drawn to items that have a little bit something special or unique, and the sleeves on this dress drew me in. Featuring a slit in the back that goes up to the elbows, the sleeves give the appearance of a cape dress from the front. Here’s some other little red dresses ASOS offers that offer something unexpected:

Since it’s a bit chilly outside, I paired some sparkly black tights and gloves to keep warm. My boyfriend’s mom has an amazing collection of vintage beaded clutches and I fell in love with this red, white and blue patterned one featuring the most darling little tassel. It added just the right amount of dazzle to the look.

STOCKING STUFFERS FOR DISNEY LOVERS

ZEBRA DISH: Jonathan Adler  //  WATCH: ASOS  //  BOOK: Victor & Rolf  //  MICKEY WAFFLE MAKER: Amazon  //  NAIL POLISH: Essie  //  TOTE: Red Bubble  //  RING: House of Harlow 1960  //  TUMBLER: Amazon  //  BALLOON DOG JEWELRY HOLDER: Bando  //  CHIP MUG: Amazon  //  SWEAT SHIRT: Amazon  //  BLUE RAY: Disney  //  CALENDAR: Amazon

It’s no secret that I’m a huge Disney fan, so I’ll apologize upfront for this post if you aren’t (and no judgement, I know my Disney fandom isn’t the norm). While I was putting together my list of good stocking stuffers, I found myself gravitating to so many Disney items, that I decided to just take a magical spin on it. Whether at your desk (you should see mine), in your home, or as a part of your look, there’s something about Disney that just adds instant happiness, and there’s not much more could you ask for than giving a gift that brings happiness to the receiver. I mean, how could anyone (even the Grinch-iest of the Grinches) not wake up smiling when their day starts with a Mickey shaped waffle? Though some of these items aren’t directly Disney, they all remind me of some element from an animated Disney classic. One of the reasons I love animation so much is the artistry behind it and this calendar featuring artist Thomas Kinkade’s take on some of the most beloved Disney animated movies is absolutely beautiful. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I have quite the Disney mug collection and I think I just found my new fave with this Chip-inspired mug from Beauty and the Beast. I’ve been counting down the days until my next Disney World trip in February, and this adorable balloon animal jewelry holder reminds me of the parks. UP is my favorite Pixar movie and I would love this tote bag to carry my workout gear in. You can’t go wrong with a Disney animated classic on Blu Ray, and The Little Mermaid is one of my favorites.

I think Disney has it right with their current ad campaign…everyone has a Disney side. What’s yours?

Happy Saturday! It’s likely that you have a holiday party this weekend, so in case you’re scrambling for ideas on what to wear, I wanted to share this fun holiday look featuring gorgeous jewel tones of emerald and royal blue. I absolutely love dressing for the holidays because it calls for some of my favorite fabrics, silhouettes and textures – taffeta, plaid, sparkle galore. While I have a selection of dresses that offer this in my closet, this year I wanted to go for something different than the dress and heels combo. I found this amazing cobalt taffeta skirt that paired perfectly with my emerald and blue plaid top. Together, they nearly look like a dress! My statement Kendra Scott necklace and gold beaded clutch added opulence to the look while this black fur jacket I found lingering in my mother’s closet provided a touch of luxe. I absolutely love these ankle strap black heels, not only because of the feminine look they provide but also because of the added support. I put my hair up in a 60’s-inspired updo and added a pop of fuchsia lipstick to complete the look (I know, it need to be highlighted, don’t worry – I have an appointment today!)

Hope you have a safe and fun holiday party weekend!
