Fact: sometimes our coziest clothing (you know, the non-clingy, loose and flowy pieces that are post-Holiday essentials) can look a little frumpy. While we’ve all set our 2017 resolutions and goals, our skinny jeans and bodysuits might be feeling a tad bit tight just after all those delicious, indulgent holiday meals, so staples like oversized sweaters and boyfriend jeans are a must. Today I’m teaming up with my friends at Payless Shoe Source to talk about an easy and affordable way to make your coziest clothing go from frumpy to fabulous.

My favorite thing about the boyfriend jean trend is that unlike skinny jeans or even leggings, they don’t cling to your legs and give you that “need these off now!” feeling when you get home at the end of the day. In fact, I wear these boyfriend jeans in lieu of sweatpants when I’m running errands all the time. The trouble is, boyfriend jeans can easily look sloppy or frumpy, especially when worn with slouchy sweaters like the one I’m styling today.

My go-to trick to make my baggie, boyfriend jeans and comfy sweaters chic?

Just throw on a pair of chic sandals or pumps, like the ones I’m wearing today!

Just like a good red lipstick, there’s something about a good pair of heels that just makes you feel instantly more chic and confident. These faux suede olive sandals that I found at Payless are under $30, y’all!! When it comes to classic shoes such as black pumps and dressy nude sandals that I know I’ll wear season after season, I’m usually willing to splurge a bit, but for fun shoes like these in one of the season’s must-have colors, I’m all about saving $$. What I love even more about these olive strappy sandals is that they are actually super comfortable and easy to walk in! They also come in a gorgeous mustard yellow hue that I’m eyeing.

One of the things I love about the olive green trend is that it’s totally a neutral and can be worn with nearly any other color. Blush and olive is one of my fave color combinations, so I loved the way the olive sandals looked paired with this adorable blush pom pom sweater. Once I paired the sandals with the sweater and boyfriend jeans, the outfit instantly felt more chic, and ready for a brunch or lunch date at a fun spot like Truck Yard, where we shot this look.

Stay tuned for more styling tips and outfits here on the blog!
