With Valentine’s Day just around the corner (and with all of the craziness happening in the world today), I thought it would be the perfect time to share this playful and colorful outfit that shares a message from a song by one of my favorite bands…”all you need is love.” Growing up, my dad was always a fan of The Beatles, but it wasn’t until recent years that I grew such a love and appreciation for the ground-breaking, record-setting band. Nowadays, I have their songs on repeat during long drives or for when I’m cleaning the house and I can’t get enough!!

As I stare at my mile-long to-do list, I’ll keep this post short and sweet. 😉 I mostly wanted to talk about how you can still break out all of your denim skirts and mini skirts during the winter (no panty hose required…unless you prefer!) Let’s be honest…jeans and maxis get old after a while. On those rare but beautiful sunny winter days, it’s nice to break out your spring and summer staples without freezing to death. While you can always pop on a cardigan over a spring/summer tank or tee, it gets a little tricky when it comes to pulling out your shorty shorts and mini skirts.

So the best way to break out your minis for winter?! Opt for a high-but-not-too-high boot, like this black slouchy pair I’m styling today. By all means, if you want to be bold and rock your ultra tall OTK boots with your shorts and mini skirts (which I 100% would also do!) then go for it! But if you want to play it a little safer, the mid-calf boot is perfect for popping on with both your mini skirts and your shorty shorts. Since your legs are expose, you’ll definitely want to double up on the top layers (unless you live in Dallas and it’s one of those 70-something and sunny kind of winter days).

What I love about a cozy-but-not-too-thick long cardigan like this yellow one is that it keeps your top and bottom half warm, so it’s perfect for pairing with your denim and mini skirt sin the winter. What I also love is that it’s easy to pop on a heavier coat, like this amazing Beatles varsity jacket I got from the Beatles Love show in Vegas, for when your outside in the elements.

Stay tuned for more fashion tips and tricks + colorful outfit ideas for every season.
