It’s said that Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, but that simply isn’t the case here in Texas. The last days of summer are as hot and humid as ever, begging for evening and weekend dips in the pool. To tip our hats to the final days of summer, I had the pleasure of working with blogger Olivia of Livvyland and photographer Kayla Snell again to throw our own mini pool party in Austin.
In our last shoot, we embraced our inner free spirits (and did our best to ignore the stifling heat) at the East Austin Succulent Garden, but for this shoot, we got to put our brightest swimwear on, enjoy summer refreshments and take a dip in the pool. Inspired by a circa 1960’s poolside party, the three of us gathered some fun props and met at a local apartment pool in Austin. Doing shoots with one of your besties makes it a little easier to feel comfortable in a teeny bikini, so Olivia and I did our best to act natural, ignore the camera and let Kayla do her thing. We love the way Kayla was able to capture such beautiful photos with a vintage feel that truly evoked the fun, colorful and carefree spirit of summer.
I’ve had this turquoise floral bikini by Betsy Johnson since high school, but it’s still one of my favorites because of the bright colors and fun shape (similar Asos). I threw on a crochet fringe top and high waisted denim for a casual poolside look. Olivia found her fun fringe bikini at Forever 21 and used a kimono as a coverup (told you they double as fantastic swim coverups!) We both loaded up in colorful, dainty jewels to add a little more color to our poolside looks.
Hope you find a few more days to relax by the pool before summer officially comes to an end!
