It’s so hard to believe that the unofficial end of the summer is already here. Though it’s been a few years since I was in school (this year marks the 6th since I started my senior year of college, but who’s counting?!), I can still remember the slight pangs of sadness that summer was over mixed with the excitement of the new school year. Besides, back-to-school always meant I got to indulge in a little shopping, so you know this girl was happy. That’s why I’m so excited to team up with Nordstrom to bring you this back-to-school outfit featuring classic, preppy-inspired must-haves like this short red lace dress that will get you back into the school spirit mode whether you’re in school or not!

Confession: when I was younger, I always wished I went to a school that had uniforms. It probably started with the Clueless-era prep school trend that was happening in the late 90’s, but I always thought my private school friends looked so tailored and put together for school. Plus, they didn’t have to stress about what they were going to wear every morning, meaning they could sleep in (in case you didn’t know, I’m so not a morning person). Luckily, all things 90’s are having a major come back right now in the fashion world, so you can wear all the navy, gold button-topped blazers your little heart desires.

So for this prep school inspired look, I started with just that: a crisp and classic navy blazer embellished with round gold buttons. Rather than going for the traditional plaid skirt and button up (it’s not Halloween quite yet y’all), I opted for a little red lace dress. This number is only $55 and I absolutely love the flattering A-line silhouette and the detail of the lace. The lace dress adds just the right feminine touch to the masculine, tailored blazer.

Since the outfit is prep school-inspired, I opted for flats rather than heeled sandals (although this dress would be darling with a pair of strappy sandals too!) Thanks to Chanel, cap toe flats are casual but chic enough to go with any dress, and I found a look-alike pair from Nordstrom that’s currently on sale.

To accessorize, I started by adding one mega color statement with this amazing rainbow stripe box clutch by Milly. I kept my jewelry classic, starting with my new lion-topped drops by BaubleBar and a wear-with-everything gold statement necklace.

Fair-well xx,
