I began writing this post last week with the intention of posting last Saturday, but another life-changing moment changed my plans. I still wanted to share my recap of the last year, so here it is…
2014 was a year of exciting new beginnings. From starting this blog in May to moving cities for a new job in September, there were so many moments that changed my life for the better. As the new year kicks off, I wanted to take a look back and share some of those moments with you all. Happy 2015!
After dating for 5 years and taking a year-long break, my boyfriend, Cole, and I reconnected and started an incredible new relationship centered in Christ. I thank God for the time that we spent apart to grow as individuals and help us gain the wisdom we needed to develop the relationship we now have. 2014 was a wonderful adventure with Cole by my side and I cannot wait to see the things He has in store for us for 2015 (two of them now being a fairytale engagement and winter ’15 wedding!!).
I completed my first-ever half marathon at one of my favorite places, Disney World. I was never a runner until college, when I no longer had cheerleading to force me to exercise, and while I was an avid 2-3 mile runner on my own, I had never so much as even completed a 5K race until I began training. The whole Run Disney experience was such an amazing experience that I had to come back to do it again. Last year one of my good friends Lara joined me, and this year I will be back again in February to complete the Disney Princess Half with my family.
To celebrate 25 years of marriage, my parents not only renewed their vows, but my dad surprised my mom with a proposal and a new ring on our family ski trip. The love that my parents share is the most amazing gift they could ever bestow. Their unconditional love, support, patience and kindness toward one another has set the standard for the kind of marriage I seek one day.
In a bitter sweet moment, I left my job in social media marketing and copywriting at Kendra Scott and the amazing city of Austin to seek new opportunities. I’d started at Kendra Scott as an intern at the start of my junior year when it was a teeny tiny company compared to the brand it has become, and I loved it so much that I kept returning for more! Kendra Scott will forever hold a very special place in my heart and I learned so many invaluable things during my four years there. I’m now working as a copywriting and PR coordinator at Fossil, Inc. providing creative services for such brands as Michael Kors, MICHELE, and Marc by Marc Jacobs in the Dallas area and I absolutely love it! I’ve learned so much in my time so far there and I can’t wait for what 2015 has in store for my career.
Starting a blog was something I’d wanted to do for two years before I finally took the leap and created it. Since I started Vandi Fair, it has become such an amazing creative source for me and has allowed me to meet and work with such incredible people and expand my creativity beyond borders I’d ever dreamed.
2014 was also a year that provided so many traveling opportunities and memories with the people I love most.
I got to go on a trip to Newport Beach while working for Kendra Scott for a social media adventure with one of my best friends and fellow bloggers Olivia from Livvyland.
My sister Tiffany and I went on an impromptu trip to Disney World as our first-ever sister’s only trip and created some of the most magical memories. With each year that passes, I realize what a blessing Tiffany is to me. She truly is my best friend and I am so lucky to call her my sister.
Thanks to Cole’s baseball career, I got to go visit amazing places like Chicago and Lake Geneva while he was living in Illinois.
I also got to spend time with my Nana and my mom’s side of the family in an amazing trip to the crescent city, New Orleans and made some memories I’ll always cherish.
I will definitely never forget 2014 and the amazing ways that God changed my course in life. 2015 will certainly be a year of wedding planning, but more importantly, a year of preparing to become a wife to Cole. I can’t wait to see what else God has in store for this year.
