If you follow me on instagram, you probably saw that I took Everly on her first-ever girl’s trip with my sister Tiffany and I a couple of weekend’s ago in what ended up being the absolute perfect location: Charleston, South Carolina. I do a lot of travel blogging (you can see my most recent post here), but when the baby gear brand Born Free (which is AMAZING by the way!) reached out to me about doing a trip with Everly, including her first-ever plane ride, I have to admit, I was pretty nervous about it. I’m SO glad we went though (and a special thanks to Born Free for making it happen!) because I learned that not only is it totally do-able to travel with baby girl, but she absolutely loves it! More on that later though. Today, I’m styling a fun mommy and me outfit we wore during our trip to beautiful Charleston featuring a little baby girl lemon print dress and a women’s lemon print top. It’s certainly no secret that fashion has embraced all things nineties lately. While I wish we could leave some of those trends in the past, I’m pretty excited about most of them. Now that I’m a mama, one of the trends I’m most excited about having a comeback is mommy and me matching outfits. I know this was a trend in the nineties because I have some cringe-worthy photos of my mama and me from the early nineties in matching outfits (though the fashion was more 1980’s era, yikes!) And now I’m sooo excited to get to play dress up with my little mini me in some fun coordinating outfits. I’ve already shared one mommy and me outfit post here, but now I’ve decided to make it a recurring post here on the blog, so stay tuned for lots more.
I’m often asked where I find Everly’s clothes, and it’s kind of hard to give a straight answer because we kind of shop all over the place + we have been very fortunate to receive freebies from amazing baby clothes brands I’d never even heard of thanks to this blog job of mine. When it comes to dressing in matching mommy and me outfits, my tip is not to go too match-matchy. As in, you don’t have to wear the exact same dress as your little. In this look, for example, while Everly is wearing her blue lemon print dress, I opted for an off-the-shoulder lemon print top and some light blue earrings to coordinate with her look. It matches just enough to be noticeable, without looking cheesey (though I’ll admit, I’m all about going full on cheesey from time to time).
