It’s the night before Halloween, and all through our rooms, all the creatures are buzzing, yes, even the brooms. LOL clearly I’m no poet, but I’m SO excited to finally be sharing our spooky indoor Halloween decor along with 8 simple indoor Halloween decorating ideas for your home. Earlier this month, I shared our Halloween outdoor decor with some of my favorite pieces from my go-to brand for holiday decor, Grandin Road, and I’m so excited to finally have a chance to unveil our Halloween transformation indoors. Although this Halloween season is a little more than 24 hours from being finished, both Grandin Road AND At Home Stores, the two places where we got most all of our Halloween and holiday decorations are having AMAZING sales right now, so it’s the perfect time to stock up!!
8 Easy Indoor Halloween Decor Ideas for Inside Your Home
Although it’s hard to think about spending money on something that you won’t use for several months, you’ll be SO glad next year when you lug your fall/Halloween decor containers from the attic to find amazing NEW decor that you got for a STEAL!! So here are my 8 simple, inexpensive indoor Halloween decorating ideas. From your mantle to your furniture, here are some inexpensive and super easy ways you can make your home spooktacular this fall and Halloween season.

1 – Go Batty With Your Mantle
Adding felt bats, like this set I got from Grandin Road that came with the easy-to-use double sided adhesive, is an easy and inexpensive way to add a dramatic Halloween effect to your living room. Many people opt to add them to their front door, but I especially love the way they make a living room come alive when added to the mantle. This super simple decor idea ended up being my absolute favorite part of our Halloween decor this year! Just be sure to add the biggest bats on the bottom and then as you go up, make them smaller to have the most dramatic effect.
2 – Just Add Cobwebs
I bought a $2 package of cobwebs (which came with several plastic spiders as well!) at At Home Stores on a whim, not really knowing what I was going to do with it. That $2 purchase made such a HUGE difference in my Halloween mantle decor. You can literally add this stuff to ANYTHING and it will instantly look Halloween-ready. It actually took me much longer than it should have to wrap the mantle effectively because I didn’t look it up first, so don’t make the same mistake I did.
You definitely DON’T want to rip off pieces of the cobweb as your wrapping your furniture or objects with it. Instead, start with an end, and wrap around and around until you’re completely finished with the piece you’re working on. THEN go in and expand and work with the cobwebs to get the effect you want.Once you cut it, it’s hard to get the cobwebs to fuse back together in a believable way.
3 – Swap A Few Throw Pillows
If you have an accent chair, this is a great base to use for your seasonal pillows. This is something I’ve just started with Halloween (& I already have my Christmas pillow ready to go!) and I just LOVE it! Rather than trying to take on the mammoth task of swapping ALL the throw pillow son your couches in your main living space, just pick an accent chair to designate as your seasonal throw pillow chair and you can just swap out two fun throw pillows (bonus points to add in a throw blanket!) every season. I’ve gotten so many compliments about my Halloween pillows from Grandin Road.
4 – Switch Out Your Candlesticks
Another easy seasonal/holiday hack? Just change out your candlesticks! I love being able to just change the color or add greenery to my set of 5 candlesticks on my mantle with every season. I especially loved the way black candlesticks looked for Halloween this year. Once we added the cobwebs and spiders, they especially looked spooky chic.

5 – When In Doubt, Just Add Pumpkins
When it comes to decorating for Halloween, you simply can’t go wrong with pumpkins., It’s a purchase you’ll NEVER regret!! No matter what, they will never go out of seasonal style and even better, with most pumpkins (save Jackolanterns!) you can keep them up through Thanksgiving!! Every time I shop for fall decor and approach the checkout center, I always say to myself “too many pumpkins!!” Then when I get home and start putting them up, I always wished I would have bought more! There just so easy to decorate with, whether indoor or outdoors, in your kitchen, on your mantle or even on your bathroom counter, they just get everyone excited about Fall and NOBODY is gonna be mad if you have too many.
6 – Add Candlesticks to Your Fireplace
Why not get a little witchy this Halloween?! And add candlesticks in front of or inside your fireplace (whatever makes the most sense for your fireplace setup). We added several of the battery-operated faux candlesticks in front of ours, and I loved the spooky-chic, witchy feeling it added.
7 – Use Some of Your Favorite Books as Decor
Have any favorite vintage books (or books with a vintage feel to them?!) Use them as Halloween decor on your mantle or shelf! Just add cobwebs and they’ll instantly add polish and mystique to your indoor Halloween decor.
8 – Throw Some Light on the Situation
Twinkling lights aren’t just reserved for Christmas…go ahead and add some light to your Halloween decor, both indoor and outdoors!! Our pre-lit brooms, both inside and outside have been Everly’s favorite part of our Halloween decor this year. Every time as we pass the lights at night she lights up and says “ohhh!!”as she points to the light. Whether you add it to your mantle like we did with the pre-lit cobwebs and brooms or to a fun Halloween wreath, adding a little light to the night is always a fun way to get into the spirit of the season.
