Trend Alert! Ankle booties are the new must-have boot of the season and today I’m teaming up with my friends at Nordstrom to show you how these booties can just as easily be worn with your girliest lace shift dress as they can with your favorite skinnies or leggings.
Click through to learn about how I styled these gorgeous burgundy ankle booties and why I’m loving this trend so much!
Let’s talk about the ankle bootie trend. This girl doesn’t have the most slender of ankles/calves. In fact, everyone is my family has abnormally larger ankles/calves for their body, so you can imagine I was a little hesitant to try the ankle bootie trend out. Much to my surprise; however, the ankle booties were actually flattering, and even elongated my legs! They look amazing with skinnies or leggings, but I love pairing them with dresses, skirts and shorts because they add just the right amount of edge when worn with bare legs. If you’re hesitant to try the trend, I recommend you go for it! And if you do, Nordstrom has a huge variety of ankle booties by different designers and at various price points. I linked several more for you to shop below.

So here’s why I love these ankle booties in particular. First things first, the price is amazing! These Steve Madden ankle booties will only cost you $89 – and they come in black, taupe and navy too! I love that the velvet-like material helps to dress the boots up and that the ankle fit is just slightly higher than usual, giving them a little extra edge. Last of all, they’re super comfortable to walk in and a great alternative for strappy sandals that get stuck in the grass if you’re headed to an outdoor event.
To style the booties, I wanted to bring out the gorgeous burgundy hue and this amazing lace shift dress was the perfect way to do it without going mono-chromatic. This dress is an absolute dream for fall – it combine pretty much every fall must-have color – wine, navy and mustard and the lace detail is just stunning. This is the perfect dress for a holiday event. In fact, I wore this exact outfit to a holiday soiree hosted by Camille Styles and Cointreau last week.
With statement ankle booties and a gorgeous, colorful dress like this, there wasn’t much needed in the way of accessories. I wore a black velvet choker and carried a black clutch (similar) to add some neutrals to the outfit and a little bit of bling with these gold Kendra Scott earrings.
Stay tuned for more fall outfit ideas from my fave place to shop for fall/holiday essentials, Nordstrom.
