Anyone else have a case of the Tuesday blues? Going back to work after a holiday is always a bit of a downer, so today I’m already looking for the weekend with this look featuring the most playful little gingham shorts and ruffled crop top combo.
When I spotted these gingham high waisted shorts, I simply had to check them out. From the darling little tie front detail and paperbag fit (that’s what Topshop calls it) to the loose silhouette and modest length of the shorts, I knew they’d be the perfect versatile staple for the summer. Besides, I’ve always loved a classic gingham print and these shorts offer a unique take to the typical skirts and dresses you see in the print this time of year.
To style the shorts, I started with what has become my favorite summer crop top. This little ruffled crop top comes in a wear-with-anything white off-white hue (also available in a print that’s on sale here!) and can be worn two ways. In today’s post, I went for the off-the-shoulder look, but it’s equally as cute (and a little more breathable for those hot summer days) as a sleeveless/tube crop top.
To style the outfit, I started with a pop of color in this turquoise statement necklace by BaubleBar. I kept the rest of my accessories neutral with these easy-to-walk-in nude wedges (similar here), my Louise Et Cie crossbody bag (I’m obsessed with the shape of it!) and my round sunnies that I found for just $24!
