If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know I spent a few days last week in the most magical place on earth – Walt Disney World! My sister and I had a blast embracing our inner child at Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We were especially excited to try out our new GoPro – a waterproof video camera with a fish eye lens that captures amazing videos and photos. I’m no pro at video editing, but I gave my first go at the above video compiling some of our favorite clips from our trip (it’s only 15 seconds long for Instagram purposes).
We also purchased the Evo accessory for our GoPro – a 26′ floating extension pole that allowed for selfie photos and videos galore. This tool was absolutely perfect to capture memories on a vacation for two, because we didn’t have to worry about stopping strangers to take photos. The tricky thing about the GoPro is that you can’t see the photos or videos immediately, but you can set it to take several photos at a time, so you’re bound to get a few gems you can use.
Below is a compilation of photos from our trip. Some were taken with our iPhone 5’s, but most were courtesy of our new favorite tool – the GoPro! Read on to see our photos and get tips on how to make your next Disney trip even more magical.
If you haven’t taken a Disney trip in the last year, then you probably haven’t experienced the magic of Disney Magic Bands! These customizable bands serve as your park tickets, room key, fast passes (you can now make fast pass selections 30 days in advance), dining reservations and you can also link your debit or credit card to it and pay for everything in the park.
Since we booked our trip last minute, my sister and I stayed at the All Star Movies Resort. Whether you stay at a super affordable hotel like ours or a luxury resort, I definitely recommend staying in Walt Disney World. You have easy, free transportation to all parks and other resorts, free transportation to and from the airport (you can even check your bags in at your resort, and you get the Disney Magic Bands for free!
We spent our first day at the biggest park – Magic Kingdom. We were so excited to see the iconic Cinderella’s Castle, New Fantasyland and ride classics like Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups and Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
We bought these sweet treats from Main Street Confectionary and they were even better than they look – red velvet pops with marshmallow ears!
The GoPro with the Evo stick made it so easy to take photos on rides – a luxury we’d never gotten before, so we went all out.
I recommend making dining reservations before your stay (which you can do up to 180 days in advance). We booked last minute, so favorites like Be Our Guest Restaurant and Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom were booked, so I made reservations at The Plaza Restaurant – which was darling, delicious and had a great view of Cinderella’s Castle.
My own phone happens to have Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland in California on the case, so I had to get a shot in front of Cinderella’s.
Like most people in the world, I’m a huge fan of Frozen, so we had to stop by Hollywood Studios to experience Frozen Summer Fun, featuring a parade, musical performance, Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post, a fireworks show and more!
My sister and I enjoyed thriller rides like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rockin’ Roller Coaster, and live performances like Beauty and the Beast at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
We made reservations at the Sci Fi Dine In Theatre, a 50’s themed indoor drive in movie featuring sci-fi-themed films from the 1950’s and delicious food!
We topped off our mini-trip with a spectacular Frozen-themed fireworks show, led by Anna, Elsa and Olaf and featuring songs from the new hit movie.
Fair-well xx,
Alexis
