As promised, I’m back with another travel post from our Alaskan cruise with Princess Cruises, this time, I’m giving you the full scoop on our adventures at our final Alaskan stop: Ketchikan. While Cole and I only had a half day in the Alaskan city dubbed Salmon Capitol of the World, there was so much for us to see and do in
Click through to get the full scoop on our half day in Ketchikan, plus get an idea on the things you must see and do during your stop on your Alaskan Cruise.
As a recap of our previous Alaskan stops, our 7-Day Alaskan Cruise with Princess Cruises first took us to the capitol of Juneau, then onto gorgeous Skagway, followed by a day in beautiful Glacier Bay and finally, our last stop: Ketchikan. Cole and I were equally as excited about our final Alaskan stop on this island of Ketchikan. He was especially excited because it was the hometown of some of his favorite reality television stars from his various Alaskan Discovery Channel shows and I’d heard so many amazing things about the excursion we’d selected: a seaplane adventure across Misty Fjords!
If your Alaskan cruise itinerary is anything like ours and includes a half day stop at Ketchikan (meaning you’ll only have time for one excursion), then I highly recommend doing the seaplane adventure across Misty Fjords. Once again, this girl did her research, and while I might be bias, according to most folks across the internet, this excursion is their favorite. It didn’t take Cole and I long to figure out why the excursion was so popular. There are a few options when it comes to the Misty Fjords Seaplane adventure, so naturally, we went with the one that included our favorite Alaskan food, the Misty Fjords Seaplane and Crab Fest.
As you can see from the photos above (and once again, I’ll also be adding a video…stay tuned!!), seeing Misty Fjords from a seaplane was nothing short of spectacular. Misty Fjords is a national monument in Alaska that promises some of the states most stunning views, From cascading waterfalls to the dreamy, low-hanging mist that surrounded the lush forests and walls of granite. It’s truly unlike anything you’ve ever seen before!
After 65 minutes of narrated passage across Misty Fjords in our seaplane, we made a smooth landing over the water to the George Inlet Lodge where we would be enjoying our crab fest lunch. Once again, we were blessed with truly amazing, sunny weather so we took some time to explore the circa 1900’s lodge and take some photos as we enjoyed some of our new favorite Alaskan craft beer.
After taking in the scenic views of the lake and the gorgeous breezy weather, we filed into the lodge where, as promised, we were treated to an all-you-can-eat Alaskan crab fest (AKA me and Cole’s dream meal).
As you can see, Cole and I enjoyed our half day in Ketchikan to the fullest. I think the hardest part of the day was boarding the ship after our excursion knowing that we were saying farewell to beautiful Alaska, but we couldn’t have dreamed up a more incredible experience during our 7-day cruise with Princess Cruises.
That about covers our Alaskan adventures during our first-ever Princess cruise, but stay tuned – I’ll be putting together the ultimate packing list for your Alaskan cruise as well as talking about some of the other things we got to see in do on our Alaskan cruise like gorgeous Victoria, Canada and Seattle too!
Fair-well xx,
