I had every intention of making this outfit my Fourth of July post on the blog, but ya know…life, baby-prepping and pregnancy got in the way. Luckily, this amazing striped maxi dress is perfect for anytime of the summer, and it was recently restocked too! Lately, as you may have noticed, I haven’t posting nearly as much on the blog. Third trimester exhaustion, along with the panic to get everything ready before the baby arrives has seriously taken its toll, and it’s been hard enough just to get my sponsored content up that helps me keep this business afloat, much less my fun outfit posts like this one. I do promise to get my next bumpdate up later this week so I can update you on all things baby and pregnancy-related, but just had to throw that out there in case you’re wondering where the heck I’ve been.
Now back to this dress. I LOVE bold stripes. There’s something so effortlessly classic about them, especially in the summertime, which is why I was instantly all heart eyes over this bold striped maxi. What I also love about the maxi is the feminine ruffle hem line and the additional bow tie at the waist. For sizing references, I wore a 0 in J. Crew clothing pre-pregnancy, so I went ahead and went two sizes up in this dress with a 4 and it fit just perfectly over the bump.
To style the dress, I opted for some pops of red since I’d intended on it being a patriotic look, but luckily, red and navy always work well together in my book. I popped on these adorable and oh-so-comfortable red slides (which come in several colors) I love the pom pom and tassel detail and the suede material, plus the price is awesome too! I bought this red bucket bag for under $50, and while this particular one is sold out, I found a near-identical one (which I actually like better) is just $52! Also, can we talk about how fun this straw visor is?! Angie (my photographer) wasn’t so sure about it at first, but I thought it was a playful take on the traditional mom visor, and afterall, this girl is about to hit mama status any day now.
