Happy Monday friends! I’m SO excited to kick off the month of April with the first of many fun and fresh room makeovers I’ve been whipping up in our home. Home decor has long been a passion of mine, but with Cole and I still in a rental home, we’re a bit limited when it comes to big picture things like wall paint, flooring, hardware, etc. I say that because I cannot wait to show off these pieces once more with the fresh paint and/or wallpaper of our choice once we move into our own home later this year, but for now, just know that this particular paint and flooring is a temporary space for these gorgeous pieces.

I’m starting my spring home makeover with one of my new favorite brands for colorful, unique indoor furniture and accent pieces that make a statement (all at amazing prices!!) – Grandin Road. I may live in Texas, but I’ve always loved interior decor that’s tropical-inspired. When Cole and I visited Palm Beach last year, I fell in love with all of the bright, light and colorful interiors of the hotels, from palm print-everything to furniture in bright pops of color. One of the first things that caught my eye when perusing the Grandin Road site was this palm leaf wall art set. I knew it would be the perfect statement piece to ground the room in a tropical setting. With the bold black and white stripes that were already in my living room, I knew palms would be the perfect pairing to add a little color and life to the room. I also wanted to add a few pops of color and I loved the lush teal hue of this Mongolian fur throw from the Iris Apfel Collection (which is also crazy cozy too!!)

 

Just in case you’re unfamiliar with Iris Apfel (when you see her face in the book above, you’ll probably recognize her!), she’s an American business woman and interior designer who’s bold and colorful style has made her a fashion icon. Her layers of accessories and bold prints always make her stand out in a room, and she’s brought that same fearless, anti-minimalist notion to her interior collection at Grandin Road. It’s easy to see why she’s also a personal favorite fashion icon of mine. The above green chest (which has a teal painted interior and back – check it out here!) is just one example of how Iris Apfel can apply her signature bold color to a classic, instantly making it a statement piece in the room.

 

The Iris Apfel Collection for Grandin Road has lots of playful jungle-inspired pieces that went perfectly with my chic tropical living room makeover. I absolutely loved how this fun zebra pillow not only added a unique playful element to the living room, but also tied in perfectly with the bold striped pieces I already had. It’s no secret that I’m a fan of leopard print, so when I found these leopard ottomans at Grandin Road (for under $200!) I knew they would be the perfect way to add another fun pattern into the room.

…a gal after my own heart. I absolutely LOVE how this gold framed art work showcases the personality and style of Iris Apfel with this iconic quote from the designer. It can also be hung from a wall, but I loved it equally as much as tabletop decor placed in an easel.

 

Does it get any cuter than this darling monkey tabletop lamp?! This is also from the Iris Apfel for Grandin Road collection and I absolutely adore it! It’s one of those pieces that you can’t help but smile when you see it, and I definitely do every time I walk into our living room. I also love the way my courtly check MacKenzie-Childs pieces like this bowl look with this bold, jungle-inspired collection.

 

Another one of my favorite pieces in the Iris Apfel for Grandin Road collection is this rattan elephant console table. It adds such a unique element to the room and also helps add to the chic tropical vibe. The little flap that hangs on the table opens to some awesome shelving space for storage too. I also scooped up this amazing gold sunburst mirror from Grandin Road and it couldn’t be ma more perfect fit for the vibe of our living room. I always like to add in some pops of gold to the room and mirrors are also a great way to open up your space.
