Though the shapes and styles will change, denim will forever be a staple, and 2017 did not disappoint with exciting new denim trends to try. Today I’ve rounded up three of my personal favorite new trends to try for fall 2017. All of which can be found at one of my fave places to shop for denim, Express.
1 – Frayed Hem
The first denim trend on my list is the one I’m styled today. Jeans with a frayed or fringed hem like this pair I’m styling today (currently on sale for just $52!) are a huge trend for 2017. The pair I’m styling are skinny and high-waisted, but the frayed hem can be seen on all shapes of jeans, from skinny to boyfriend. What I especially love about the skinny jeans version of the trend is that it draws the eye to your shoes, so you can show off that new pair of strappy sandals you scooped up, like this blush satin pair from Express (on sale for just $41!). When it comes to styling a pair of denim with a frayed or fringed hem. go for a simple-but-chic top that will show off your denim and shoes like this amazing puff sleeve blouse (also currently on sale for $29!) Last of all, I want to let you in on my sizing info since jeans are all about the fit. I’m 5’5″ with short legs and a long torso and I’m wearing a size 00R. This is definitely smaller than my usual size (a 0 or 2), but I like my skinny jeans to fit super snug and Express jeans tend to run a size up + most of their denim will stretch too!
2 – Super Cropped
Next up on my list, the super cropped jean. I’m all about this trend because the super cropped will likely just look like a regular crop on my short legs, but no matter how long or short your legs are, this trend tends to add length to them (and who doesn’t love a leg length boost?!) Like the frayed hem trend, this one also allows you to show off your shoes and I especially love them styled with a great pair of booties (and you don’t have to worry about the awkward jeans-stuck-in-booties look!)
3 – Anti-Fit
Perhaps the newest denim trend for 2017 is the anti-fit. I’m not just talking about boyfriend jeans, I’m talking about mom-style jeans that go straight all the way down. I’m always up for a new, unexpected trend and this is the one to try if you walk on the bold side of fashion. What I love about this trend is that opposite of the former two trends I’ve talked about, it allows you to really play up your top and accessories. Stay tuned to see how I style the new anti-fit denim look here on the blog.
