Confession: I’ve never been much of a foundation-wearer. When I was in sixth grade just about to enter middle school, I remember attending a mommy-daughter makeup tutorial party with some of my friends so we could all learn how to “properly apply” makeup. At the event, they explained foundation as if it was just part of the process, so naturally, my mom and I purchased the product they were selling. It was thick, goopy and didn’t completely match my skin tone, but for a whole year of my life at 12-years-old (when I didn’t need the stuff at all), I caked the thick product on, daily.
